How often should you rotate your tires? You’ll typically want to spend between 5,000 and 8,000 miles between tire rotations. However, how many miles to rotate tires is just part of the story for Broken Arrow drivers. Curious on when to rotate tires and how? Post Oak Acura has a guide that you can read through right here. Rotating Tires on FWD and RWD Vehicles

Front-wheel and rear-wheel drive just tell you where power from the engine is sent. It’s pretty self-explanatory–front-wheel drive goes to the front tires while rear-wheel drive goes to the rear tires. This means that the tires that get the power will wear down faster than the others. Should you drive a vehicle like this, here’s your tire rotation checklist:

  • For FWD or RWD cars, you need to perform a tire rotation every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. Your owner’s manual will tell you the exact figure.
  • If you’re performing a FWD tire rotation yourself, flip the tires when you change the front side. For example, the rear right tire will go on the front left. However, when moving the front tires to the back, keep them on the same side.
  • When rotating tires on an RWD car, do the opposite of the process for FWD. Change sides when you place the front tires on the back, but keep the rear tires on the same side when you move them to the front.
  • Certain endeavors behind the wheel such as off-roading and use as fleet vehicles will mean you’ll have to rotate your tires more often. Having a chat with the service team at Post Oak Acura will help you know when to rotate tires for these vehicles.

AWD Tire Rotation Tips

If you’ve got an all-wheel drive vehicle in Oklahoma City, your vehicle will have a different tire rotation schedule. If you drive AWD, you’ll want to rotate tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. In addition, this is the special tire rotation scheme you’ll need to employ:

  1. The left rear goes to the right front spot.
  2. The right rear goes to the left front spot.
  3. The right front goes to the left rear spot.
  4. The left front goes to the right rear spot.
